Scheduled Sessions

User problem

Users frequently need to run repetitive data analysis tasks on a regular cadence or immediately whenever new data becomes available. Currently, they lack a native mechanism within Plotly Studio to automate these AI workflows, forcing them to manually trigger sessions each time data updates.

What is it?

This concept introduces a scheduling framework for AI sessions within Plotly Studio. It explores the possibility of running automated workflows on a specified data source either via a time-based schedule or through direct execution triggers. The framework could run directly on the Plotly platform (Cloud or Dash Enterprise/DE) and potentially offer an API to initiate analysis from external systems.

What does it allow users to do?

If this feature is developed, it would allow users to:

  • Automate their AI analysis workflows to execute based on predefined time intervals or data availability.

  • Connect external systems to Plotly Studio via an API to programmatically trigger data analysis on demand.

  • Generate and refresh downstream artifacts, reports, and Dash applications automatically at the conclusion of each run, ensuring shared resources stay continuously updated without manual intervention.
